Pilot Program Overview
Grow, Learn, and Inspire
At Roots & Boards, we believe that the best way to learn is by doing. Our pilot programs were designed to inspire passion for gardening and woodworking while equipping participants with practical skills they can use in their own lives.

Our Next Community Build:
TCAP Denton Benches
Roots & Boards is excited to announce our next community build! Beginning this September, a small group of participants will come together over four Saturday workshops to build four handmade indoor benches for TCAP Denton. This beginner-friendly project will allow participants to learn practical woodworking skills while creating much-needed seating for pet owners waiting with their animals. Through projects like this, we’re continuing to build skills, confidence, and community—one project at a time. Spots are limited to 6 participants, so sign up soon!
Explore Our Journey Towards Creating a Community Where Skills, Confidence, and Connections Grow
Our journey began in 2025 with community information sessions held at a local coffee shop, where we shared the vision for Roots & Boards and connected with people interested in learning and volunteering. In spring 2026, we launched our first gardening pilot, followed by the completion of our woodworking pilot in summer 2026. Beginning in fall 2026, we will offer paid one-day gardening and woodworking workshops where all the profits will go to our next community build. Our longer four or six-week workshops will remain free/ donate if you can. These extended programs will focus on building practical skills while creating projects that benefit the community, including food pantry boxes, picnic tables, and other small builds that support people in need.
