About Us - Roots & Boards

What we are about

Roots & Boards was started by Bryen Boniface to create a space where people can learn practical skills that reconnect them to the land, their food, and their community. The project brings together gardening with a permaculture focus and woodworking to teach hands-on skills that help people become more capable and confident in building and growing things for themselves and others.

Right now, Roots & Boards is in its beta stage, running small pilot sessions and testing what a community-centered learning model can look like. Participants gather to learn everything from soil health and food growing to basic woodworking and project building.

At the heart of the vision is a shared community shed—a place where tools, materials, and knowledge come together. This space will allow participants to move from learning to doing, building real projects that benefit the wider community.

One of the first projects coming out of the shed will be building and installing food pantry boxes for local churches, ensuring the skills learned here immediately serve others.

Roots & Boards is still growing, but the goal is clear:
to build a community where people learn, create, and give back together.
